In a month or so, I plan on adding some some swordtails to my 40 gallon tank, but I've read on this site that they can be jumpers. My 40 gallon is an old style aquarium that has a 2-piece glass cover. However, the glass doesn't cover the entire top of the aquarium. There's probably a 3-4 inch gap in the back, which was obviously needed to be able to fit a power filter. Anyway, what's the best way to fill this 3-4" x 36" inch gap? Obviously, I'm going to have to cut a piece of material out to cover the gap, but what's the best (cheap) material to use?

I saw something once at homedepot while walking the aisles.
I forgot the name of it, maybe its plexiglass or lexan glass.

what it really is: a clear hard plastic.

I remember looking at it when I was deciding if I wanted to build a diy basking spot for my turtle.

its not too expensive and you can probably ask them to but it to whatever size you need.
