Well, the stairs are finished! They still need to be painted, sealed, sanded, and all that fun stuff but at least the real hard part's over. The top stairs were a pain to do b/c they are really chippy (ha, I made up an adjective). Here's the pics...
Bottom stairs done.
Close up.
Top stairs done.
Close up.
Why you should work (a) outside, (b) on a tile floor, or (c) over a tarp. The stuff doesn't vaccuum very well...
Keep the comments coming, please!! I can't wait to see this all finished, but that may not be for a while yet. Tomorrow I think I'm going to start on the back of the whole thing. I'm saving the columns for last b/c I know they're going to be hard.

I have made some progress, but our camera is missing and I haven't been able to take any pictures. I have started carving what will be the back of the wall. So far I have two gods carved out and I'm starting on some heiroglyphics (sp?) once I can find the alphabet somwhere. I'll post some pics once we find the camera.

Cool there is a book out there called "Hiroglyphs without mistery" that's pretty good. I can't remember the author right now and my copy is in storage at my parents house but I'm sure you could find it by title at barnesandnoble.com if you're interested.
Hope you find the camera soon.

This idea is unreal. I loved reading and looking through the progress photos. Keep us updated I would love to see this as it comes along. You are braver then I. Not that I wouldn't spend the time, I just don't think I'm artistic enough to pull it off.
Good luck, looks great so far.

K, I found the camera! It turns out it enjoys hiding in the most unlikely of places. Its case, for example.
I only have one pic so far since I haven't really made any progress (I'm a Pisces, it happens).
There you go. We've got Horus on one side and Anubis on the left. I'm gonna throw some heiroglyphics on there and get carving tonight probably. Thanks to Steve Hampton for the translator site. I'll be putting one of my favorite movie quotes in heiroglyphics on the back (it's from Super Troopers). I won't tell you what it says, though. You'll have to learn Egyptian and figure it out on your own (lol).

Just long enough for the seal to cure. I'm gonna leave it about a week, though, since I plan on doing discus and don't want to screw anything up.

okay -
I'm really interested in designing a background of this type myself someday when I have the chance to own a 75+ gallon tank.
my question is how do you get it into the tank. a tank that large will have braces going across the top of the tank. how do you get something that large in a tank with those braces in. you can't take out the braces or the tank won't be bale to hold water, it will bow out and possibly burst?
so how do you do it??? _________________ I have a degree in Liberal Arts
