I assume this is the 160 L tank in your profile. If so, your population level is OK, and if your test readings are correct then at least they're under control, although new tanks are always subject to other types of chemistry problems until they mature.

Could you please tell me, if I raise the temp up to 30c to kill White Spot, will this do my fish any harm? _________________ Fish are a humans best friend.

No, it will not harm your fish, but you should always observe them whenever you make any changes to make sure they are tolerating it well. Change the temperature slowly. Please read the article on using heat to treat ich. (Click Articles at left) _________________ Happy fishkeeping!

Well the obvious first guess is Ich (White Spot Disease). There are two very detailed articles about it in the Articles section:

It could be, but might not be. I wouldn't add meds but you can slowly raise the temperature as if the fish does have ich. Read this article. Just raising the temperature at this early stage could be enough to cure it if it is ich. _________________ Happy fishkeeping!

| Thanks I visited the LFS and he gave me some preventative/treatment. I brought a water sample in and also found out that I was only half way thorough the cycle so he gave me bacteria to put into the tank. |

I have an Angel fish that has a tiny white spot on its pectoral fin, the one on the sides that are constantly in motion. Is that the correct term for it?
I noticed this spot about four days ago. It is growing very slowly. The fish seems healthy enough, there has been no change in its habits. The water is fine and super clean, no other fish have problems.
Does anyone know what this spot might be and want to do about it.

| The first thing that comes to mind is Ich, especially if it looks like a grain of salt. Type up Ich in the "search board" option at the top of this page and you'll get many threads about this topic. |
