The 75 is coming down. Replacing with a 30. Want to see peoples thoughts on stocking.

The tank will have:
2 dojo loaches
1 opaline gourami
Oto, amano shrimp, mts.

I'm looking to add 1 maybe 2 other species.

Here's what I'm thinking of:

1) Cardnial or other tetra tank.
2) Rainbow tank (probably Praecox).
3) A livebearer tank (guppy or Endlers)
4) 20-25 small fish. Badis Badis or other (would like other suggestions)
5) Small South American Cichlids, suggestions appreciated.
6) Other

The filteration will be heavy. lighting about 2 wpg NO lighting. Substrate will be flourite with sand and/or gravel.

Looking at other issue on people losing interest in the hobby IRONS.

Is this why you are down sizing or just a change about ?

I moved and don't have somewhere I feel is save or convient enough to put 1000 static lbs. 30 is the next biggest tank I have.

I would do the Rainbows, they have become a favorite lately.

I updated the list of options. I pulled Other because people didn't specify whta they thought would be good. For those who voted S.A. cichlids, which do you recommend. Rams or apistos might be nice, but I think I will only be able to have 6 tops. I'm leaning towards either the guppies starting with 10 or so. Or the praecox. Anyone have any other ideas?

Rainbows...definitely...but I'm biased. And personally I think Praecox can be a bit boring...M. boesmani or G. incisus!!! Very Happy

I would suggest you take back the opaline gourami and replace him with a pair (male/female) of pearl gouramis, Then add a harem of apistos and maybe 6 guppies. I am not a big fan of rainbows. IMO they get really bulky looking, they have to be used in like a large aquarium.

Someone mentioned Killies or danios. That sounds intersting.

If you're looking for a lot of activity, any of the smaller danios (read: non-Giant Danios) would be a good choice (I've heard Giant Danios are best kept in larger tanks). Smile

I vote S.A. cichlids. And, Irons could you please give me the link to the post about the nano tank you were going to set up? (If it was you).
