I haven't in most of my freshwater aquariums but have thought about doing so in my saltwater tanks. _________________ The more people I meet in my life, the more I like and appreciate my pets.

You gotta get the flow started ... and sometimes you suck just that bit too hard! |

well I haven't worn gloves to clean my tank yet cause I was worried about what the gloves were made of (rubber, wool etc) however now you've all put the diseases thought into my head I might change my mind... I don't want to be the first person in the world to get mad fish flu even if it would get named after me, thats not the way I want to be remembered! _________________ Some people can tell the time by looking at the sun, but I have never been able to make out the numbers. |

I don't...but I wash my hands before and after.....I'm more afraid of getting my fish sick then me....I have insurance - they don't
But seriously...I do worry more about them getting ill from me then vice-versa but I don't wear gloves _________________ "The deception of others is nearly always rooted in the deception of ourselves." |

I got some of those disposable gloves from drsfostersmith.com. Tried them ONCE. First off, within a few minutes, the water was INSIDE the glove, so there was a leak. So whatever I was protecting myself from, well, so much for that. And second, I have a lot of strong threadlike algae in one of my tanks, which I usually hand-pick out when I do my cleaning. You need to be able to feel around for it. So the glove didn't work for that either.
I guess I'll just keep washing up well before and after. I wish they would come up with good gloves, though, as my hands have been really dry since I started this hobby.

Ugh I hate tank water!!!! It tastes so gross! I don't wear gloves, but my fish used to bite me. I solved that problem by grabbing at any offending fish. They learned their lesson. _________________

Nope, no gloves. I don't mind the taste of tank water, since the only tank I use a tiny siphon on is my shrimp tank, and that thing is so planted the water is probably cleaner than what comes from the tap!
I should wear gloves, I'm sure, when dealing with the reef tank at work, but... _________________ But if you tame me, then we shall need each other....You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.
