Hi all, haven't been on here in a while, but I got a question for ya.
Moving away to college a few years back, I had to take down my 29 saltwater reef aquarium because I wouln't be able to take it with me. Now that I have my own place I'd like to get back into the hobby.
Only thing is this time I just want to do a simple freshwater tank. Would it be okay to use my previuos 29 gallon, which still has bits of Coraline algae on the walls, and my canister filter, which is a Rena XP2, for a freshwater set up?
Let me know your thoughts and experience. _________________ 28 gallon freshwater

Welcome back to the site and to the hobby.
No problem at all converting your old tank to FW. Just give the tank and the filter a good wash with a sponge and something mildly acid, get yourself some new and appropriate FW filter media and your ready to go.
Further details will depend on exactly what type of FW setup you have in mind... _________________

Thank you for the welcome Marcos!
I havent really decided on a set up yet. The tank has a HO T5 lighting setup so I was thinking a planted aquarium with some angel fish and tetras. |

If you're putting lighting that you used for corals on a FW planted tank, make sure you add CO2. That much light without it may result in algae problems. _________________ Am I obsessed? Wait a minute... don't answer that! |
