I started a planted tank about 6 weeks ago and the first to go in were 4 pairs of celebes rainbowfish. they are active and they have fun behaviors and displays. then I added 3 pairs of juvie threadfin rainbowfish. they are very shy but curious. can't wait for their colors to come in.

I added 9 dwarf neon rainbows today from an online fish auction so wasnt 100% sure on what I was getting... regretting it. they are juvie also, maybe 3/4 to 1 inch. everything I read is that they are peaceful community fish by they are definate tail and fin nippers to the celebes. relentlessi would say. they do not harrass each other or the threadfins that I saw.

I'm thinking I don't have enough female dwarf neons. hard to tell, but I think I have 3 females and 6 males.

I'm thinking of removing 3 males and donating to LFS. I think that would lower aggression by evening out the m/f ratio or should I just remove all 9 and go with a more peaceful rainbow.

Praecox rainbows are much more active than the other species you have and I would not consider then ideal tank mates.

They are an excellent upper level community fish with more robust species.

I'm agreeing with you. They are difficult to remove... got about half of them in a bucket this morning.

I'm going to see if the LFS will trade them for gertrudae rainbows.
