Hello, I am an old cruiser of the site, found it in '98 and because of this site I can honestly say that I have had some amazing fresh water habitats everywhere I've lived (and I've moved a lot in the past 15 years). My tanks have been a source of wonder and pride in creation.
After 10 yrs of caring for tanks and the various creatures both aquatic and other, and now at 3 years without, I decided it's been long enough. Even my family thinks its odd I've not put up a tank now that I am truly settled.
I got froggy the other night with some money in my pocket and some beautiful inspiration, decided that my dream of my tall tank as a salt aquarium was about to find a start. I plunked down a small investment in filtration, around 6 gal. of saltwater and some live rock and 2 pieces of coral.
Stupid me didn't realize that I have no saltwater stores around here and the owner and I forgot the sand...though we did put it on our list. So now I have a 30 gal tall some live rock and no sand, a filter...no light...not that I need a serious one for a while...and no nearby source of supply.
Well thought out!
So I'll be scouring the site trying to figure out what I'm doing and learning from the ground up. It'll be an adventure, I believe that cycling a salt tank should take almost 2 months, so time is on my side.
I'll not be putting anything live in for a while I fear, but still - the dream has begun. Thanks guys. Good to be here. |
