h I ,ihave got a tank with sth african malawi,s mixed variaties,a couple of days ago the tank suddenly became overgrown with green algae. would be very grateful if anyone could resolve this problem for me .not bin keeping fish long ,so very new to yhis hobby ,many thanks

Hi,

We need to know more about your tank.

How did you cycle it? What are the water parameters?

How long has it been running?

What filtration & lighting?

What fish & where did you buy them?

OK - How did you move it?

It could just be that a huge water change and extra lighting had allowed alage to flourish.

Leave the lights off for now & get yourself armed with liquid test kits and dechlorinator.

Where are you - I know which bits of Notts have soft ot hard water & may be able to save you buying kits for KH /GH too.
