NO, do not cut out the top brace, it's there for a reason! ....

I have always used Dow Corning clear silicone to build tanks in the past, but why are you sealing the corners? Does it leak? _________________ Keepin' marines happy for 25 years |

I havent tried to fil it up yet (broken arm) but I jut want to be safe. I guess I just don't want to spend a 1000 dollars then have it all die on my floor because I didn't re silicone _________________ 46 gallon-reef |

Well, I have news for you; if you have an older or even questionable aquarium there, even "re-sealing" the corners will not always work. Many years ago, I purchased a used 125 gal tank from a pet shop that was closing. The tank was not new, but it was set up and had fish in it at the pet shop when I bought it, so I thought I got a great deal.
I tested the tank in the garage at home, filled it up and let it sit for a few days with no problems. Then I proceeded to set up and cycle a beautiful marine display, which was easy because of all the money I "saved" on that used aquarium. A month or so later, I was sitting in the living room and heard a dripping sound (!) You guessed it _________________ Keepin' marines happy for 25 years

yes I think for now I will just re-silicone it but will look for an upgrade. I should be starting a build soon. _________________ 46 gallon-reef |
