| I want to start a nano reef tank, I have an 8 gallon tank, 55 watt heater and filter although I'm not sure if it's appropriate for saltwater. Can anyone tell me what else I need, also what kind of species are good for a nano? |

Start with a clear goal in mind - what exactly do you want to keep and how do you envisage the finished tank?
Perhaps browse the stickies and articles on this site & on other sites to get a better picture of what you're getting yourself into - these will also tell you what sort of equipment you need and the likely cost. Simple set ups may be light on the hip pocket, but inevitably make you a slave to the tank as it will need (minimum) daily attention.

Well I'd like a tank with coral and anemones and only very few fish but I'm not sure what species would do well in a small
tank. Also not sure how go go about the lighting as the tank I have has a fluorescent bulb built into the lid, will this be OK or will I need to change it? I'm thinking the aquaclear 20 HOB filter would be good, I've been doing research but every where says something different and I don't know If they are right. I need to find somewhere with a to do list  |

Hello Depths_of_blue, and welcome to the forum.
I see that most of your posts have been over on the freshwater sections. Assuming you are a beginner to marine aquaria, I'm glad you are asking these questions, your concern shows you care about marine life and I think we can help you get off to a good start.
Speaking only for myself, I would have to say that over the years, it has probably become obvious that I am not particularly fond of "nano" setups for the novice. It isn't that I want to hinder your success, no

| OK so evryone keeps telling me to get a bigger tank, I went to the LFS today to buy some food for my betta 'Sushi', and I saw a 60 L aquaone tank with filter, hood and light, almost new for $195 AUD, I laybuyed it but just wanted some opinions on wether this is a decent enough size?? |

| For tropical it is a nice starter tank but not for marine. |
