Hi all,

While doing a gravel vac and water change on my tropical tank I found these worms living at the bottom of my substrate, they were sucked up by the gravel vac.

The substrate is basic aquarium gravel and I feed my fish a combination of flake food, micro pellets, frozen blood worms and the very occasional live black worms.

I'm wondering if these worms are blood or black worms or have possibly hitch hiked on the live plants I have added to the tank a few months ago?

They are probably harmless.

They are the live blackworms your feeding. They will live in your aquarium for months. You either need to feed less of them at at time or stir your gravel more often to get them out and eaten.
In short you have nothing to worry about.

Thank you, I thought that might be the case but just wanted to make sure. I will stir my gravel more often in order to get rid of them.
