There are no confirmed treatments for dropsy.
I've had fish with it that died no matter what I did; I've had other fish which recovered.
Increase water changes and ensure you aren't overfeeding. _________________ My Aquaria Gallery

Thanks. I've put them in a little temporary hospital tank doing daily water changes. hope I have a good outcome, I love these guys! |

Make sure you check out the water on your main tank, as well. The most common cause of dropsy is poor water conditions. _________________ Cory Tank

Like Shai mentioned, it's difficult to cure dropsy as the bacteria seems to respond poorly to most medical baths.
What I usually do when my fish do get dropsy is mixing aquarium salt with mineral water to a 0.5% solution and just leave it to recover. It has worked before for me but again this is inconsistent, but worth a try if you wish.
Also perform a good 50% water change in your main tank. Once dropsy occurs the bacteria spreads quickly if not dealt with quickly. Add some aquarium salt (1tsp per 5 gallons) would help preventing it happening again too, provided your other fish are fine with the salt concentrations.
Good luck with them

Thanks for your help guys. Main tank seems fine, all tests withing normal parameters, just a higher pH than I would like.
Lost one of the sick guys, the other one still fighting. will try the salt idea. |
