After a warm and humid summer in the UK (seems like a long time ago now!) and two overheated cleaner shrimp I purchased an Aqua Medic Titan 150 Chiller. The unit keeps the water at an stable optimum temperature but I have noticed salt creep from the pipe outlets at the back of the unit. Sure enough on closer examination the casing of the unit is leaking at the point where the inlet/outlet pipes attach. I have checked the connections and it is the unit itself that leaks.

Some further research suggests that these units are prone to leaking and can be readily sealed internally using plumbers tape. My LFS who supplied the unit is being helpful in seeking a solution and will return and replace if necessary.

The pressure for flow comes from my Aqua One CF-500 cannister filter. I seem to be losing about a litre of water a week in addition to normal evaporation. Has anyone had a similar experience with these, or other brands of, chiller?

Cheers,

Jimbob.

Yep - my LFS came out yesterday and are going to replace it for me.

The whole of the inside of the unit was caked solid with salt - LFS thinks it might be leak from the radiator?
