How are "Weipro" skimmers? I can get a brand new one rated for 100 gallons for $80. Is it a good deal and is it worth it?

They work fine if the pump is big enough. They are an old school venturi design and require more work to keep clean and operating. Be very careful as they are brittle and easily broken. There are much better choices out there. Will this be in sump or hang on back?

Hang on back. I was opting for it because it is considerably cheaper than Seaclones (which I wouldn't buy anyways), and I cannot afford a Coralife SS, which is the only other thing availalble to me.

It will be on a 55 gallon tank with a single dwarf fuzzy lion and about 40 lbs. live rock. This tank is also serving as my quarantine tank for the 90 gallon before I get the lion.

Weipro is the same as Won....decent skimmers but the pump is too small. It will work just not very efficiently.

So would you buy it or save up for a while and get a CSS? I think I'll do the CSS.

I would do the superskimmer...but only the 220 needlewheel version. You can take a skimmers rated capacity and cut it in half or more.

I can't afford the 220, but I will definitely save up for the 65. I didn't realize there was a needlewheel and a venturi model of that skimmer. I thought they were all needle wheel, but when I got mine (for the other tank), it appeared to have a venturi on it. What does a needlewheel look like? Aren't they inside of a pump?

Yes...the pump instead of having paddles has little plastic needles which generates fine and dense foam and allows more air into the skimmer.

Okay, I'll definitely get the needlewheel for the 55 gallon. Or, I might talk to my dad about selling me his 220 venturi so he can get a 220 needlewheel for his 90 and I can have a 220 venturi for my 55.
