This is my 55 gallon aquarium

Gold an Blue gourami

One of two red tailed sharks (they get along fine)

Platties an glassfish

Zebra Danio

Albino Cory Catfish

glass catfish (pic taken awhile ago)

bubler ornament (also taken ahile ago)

Population =
3 glass catfish
3 Platties
3 neon tetras
2 gouramis (blue and gold)
2 red tailed sharks
1 danio
1 catfish
1 guppie
1 glassfish

total # of fish = 17 and a lot of unkown fry

I am open to comments about how I can make my tank better and also some cool fish 2 get (eventually getting rid of smaller fish and getting cichlids)

well, if there is room bump those danios to at least 5 neons too, and those guppies up a bit too. they like buddies, and the cory (hdepending if ytou still have it or not, or if you have more) should have at LEAST 3 buddies. all of this is IMO, and from what I have heard, sharks will get territorial and the gourmais may fight, now this is what I have HEARD, but am not 100% sure myself

As long as you provide several caves (preferable three or more) the sharks may be able to get along once they both get settled down and have separate territories. Try to set up caves so it can't be seen by another caves, such as creating a type of median. In one year they can get pretty big.

Very nice tank though. I really like the rocks one the right. I'm sure the future cichlids will too.

yea I do in my expierience with firemouth cichlids they need to be kept with other some what aggressive fish that are able to defend themselves I would deffinatley recommend you remove the glass fish and if you do decide to get a firemouth I would keep a close eye on it for at least a month because once it decides where its territory is going to be more than likely youll start to see some cassualties (abc ?). Or you could have no problem at all except for some aggression after feeding when your firemouth reminds everybody whose boss.

I agree, they are schooling fish and do best and are more confident in groups of ATLEAST 4.

I would get some more fake plants for that tanks, those little fish of yours are going to want more spaces to hide and hang out, mine sure love to chill out in the back right corner behind my big green plant.
