I finally got my lighting the way I want it...looks much more even and isn't popping the elect meter so much. Left and right side of the tank are 150 watt 10K XM Double Ended Bulbs and the center section is a 250 watt 10K Ushio Double Ended bulb.

for what I imagine is a rather expensive set up, wouldnt it be good to keep a generator handy for when you lose power?

msta...it isn't allowed in my building for noise reasons. I am looking into a power inverter set that will run a heater and a powerhead but that only works in the winter. We lost power for days here last summer. Current contingency plan is to take the corals to someone's house that does have electricity. Our local reef club has many members spread all over so that plan will have to work for now.
