I recently got the opportunity to take a behind the scenes tour of the New England Aquarium thanks to a study that I took part in. Anyway, here are some pictures that I snapped while I was there.

This is a marine mangrove tank which houses some bluegreen chromis, archerfish, and a bunch of upside down jellyfish.

This is one of the first tanks you see when you enter the aquarium. The colors are much more subdued in the photo than they are in real life. I could sit and watch this tank all day long.

Here is one of the inhabitants of the above tank. This is easily the largest mandarin I have ever seen.

This is a behind the scenes look at one of the Aquarium's marine quarantine tanks. It is the size of a small swimming pool.

This is a very densely planted poison dart frog enclosure.

Just a sea urchin.

I was trying to take a picture of the ray on the bottom when his friend swam over and landed on top of him. Two for the price of one.

Here are some pictures that show the public side and then the private behind the scenes side of a few displays.

This is a tank with a bunch of anemones.

The cuttlefish tank. I was lucky enough to arrive just in time to see feeding. I even got a short video clip of one. If I can figure out a way to host the video I may post that as well.

This is the electric eel tank. There is a meter at the top that allows you to see how much current the eel is generating at the moment.

A bunch of green anemones. The second picture is much closer to their true color.

This is the lionfish tank. I got to see them eat too. It was great.

That is all the pictures I have for now. I have more of the behind the scenes pictures but they are in no way glamorous. I can post them for anyone interested though. Enjoy!

Wow!
I love those anemone photos! Is that salt or fresh water they are in? Plus that's a very cool picture of the Cuttlefish, did you see them doing that crazy colour changing they sometimes do?
I would really love to have a tank like that mangrove one in my living room, always wanted a tank that has stuff above and below the waterline.

I'm personally suckering out for that tank of pink anemones. What a gorgeous, gorgeous tank...

But yes I too saw that mangrove tank and immediately thought, Oh I want one of those... how could I do that in my house?
