Can anyone tell me what the female peppered cory looks like versus the male?

its really hard to tell, but if you have around six (which is what you should have anyways because corys are schooling fish) you will know you have a males and females...if your trying to breed them that is. The only thing you could look for is that the females are fatter then the males, but thats not a good guide because they may be younger etc..

I have 3 which I was told is the minimum to have. I can't have any more than that because I have a 10gallon with 3 cherry barbs, 1 CT betta, 2 ghost shrimp, and a snail. In other words, I'm pretty full. I just found a site via this site that told me the same thing you did. I'm pretty sure I have 1 female and 2 males but I will continue to observe them. I just got them yesterday so I don't really "know" them yet. Wink

THANKS!!!!

what makes you think your tank is too full? its pretty full if you follow the 1 inch rule but you can always bend it a little Wink .3 is a good number, but it sounds like you could definetly fit 1 even 2 more in there.

Tetrabarb: I don't want to push my luck! I've pretty much got my husband talked into buying a 55 gallon long (I love to watch fish school together so you can bet I will have a couple of different kinds of schooling fish) some time this year so I think I will hold out for that! He was unsure when I bought this little 10 gallon but I think he is really enjoying it and he sees how much I enjoy it. Plus, he knows that I will be doing all the work with the 55 Rolling Eyes .

Back to the cories: I've noticed that they all seem to have some small degree of what looks like fin rot (it could just be nipped fins, I got them at Petsmart and they were in with zebra danios). Should I go ahead and medicate now or wait a few days and see if they improve?

In reply to my own previous post, upon inspecting the corys a little closer, I don't think they have fin rot (I checked pics on another website of fin rot too). Being that they were in with those zebra danios, I suspect they have nipped. Do I need to medicate for that? Maybe I will start a new thread!
