my corydaros melanotaenia (or that's what I think it is) is about an inch and a half long. all day he sits on my ozelot sword plant and just looks around. I tried to bring out the cory in him by introducing 3 playful youngsters of the same species. it seemed to do the trick, for a day. I've noticed his skin is kinda mucusy and theres white spots. is he on his way out? help! _________________ Trying to spawn Barbs and Clowns

If you have a quarantine tank, put him in there immediately(do this slowly, so it doesn't stress to much). Use some Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Stress Coat Aquarium Water Conditioner and treat for ick. It doesn _________________ I am who I am, and who I am is who I want to be. |

It's not necessarily ich, unless the white spots look like grains of salt. If this is the case, putting the cory in a QT will only double the amount of work, because ich will still be present in the main tank, and the main tank has to be treated as well.
If the white spots do not look like grains of salt, but perhaps are more like splotches where the color has faded, or something else that could be described as white spots, the problem is something else, and the cory should be placed in quarantine. We'll need a better description of the spots to give better advice.
Water parameters and other information as requested in the sticky topic at the top of the "Diseases and Disasters" forum would help too. (This topic probably belongs in there.) _________________ What color is your straitjacket? |
