now I have my presurised co2 system set up I'm letting out a bubble every 3 seconds in a 220 litre tank does this sound about right?? also the bubbles just go stright up and break at the water surface which is almost still,, do I need to buy something to help move the co2 around the tank ?? thanks

You are half way there. You need a diffusion method. You can't simply bubble the CO2 into the tank.

Most commonly used are diffusers or reactors. Either one will work.

Also get off the bubble rate jag. You need enough CO2 being injected to get to the 30 ppm range. And one bubble every three seconds in a 220 liter is not enough. You might need as much as 9X more than you are using. 3 bps is not uncommon on a tank that size.

But it's a mote point till you get your diffusion method.

hi ta I have a diffuser in the tank the bubbles break inside it sorry should have mentioned that I have the aquarium solutions co2 kit what do I buy to get the reading of the co2 and where can I buy it from tyhanx

You need a pH test kit and a KH test kit and then head to http://rexgrigg.com/co2.pdf to view the pH/KH/CO2 chart.
