|
|
Hi,
I'm moving my fish from a 5 to 20 gallon. Here's my question: since I'm moving nearly every thing- gravel, plants, water, decorations, and even the the sponge filter, will I need to cycle the 20 before adding the fish from the 5 gallon?
Just want to double check. thanks, people. |

Not really just put the fish in, you are moving all the benificial bacteria from the old tank. _________________ 47 tanks and still adding!

| I wouldn't put too many fish in there, but they should be fine, there may be a mini cycle though. |

I guess it would be okay as long as the decorations weren't out of the water for too long. afterwards, I think you should monitor your ammonia and nitrites carefully for a while. _________________ New to fishkeeping? Click the banner

Since the majority of your bacteria is in the filter, you will be fine so long as all the filter media is being used with the new 20g tank. It's still reccommended that you monitor the water though, just in case there is any amount of die off in the filter that will cause a cycle. _________________
