I have a couple of electric yellows with my silver dollar and they are going OK, but I wouldn't recomend them, as they are quite aggresive and I have seen mine doing some fin nipping. My kribensis are going fine with my silver dollar though, I do reccomend them. Also silver sharks, mine are getting on well together, except they need a fairly large tank, what size is yours? Bristlenose catfish are also a good choice as they are great algae eaters and scavengers, and are also peaceful, (well at least all mine have been). |

yeah, I think a small group or shoal of silver sharks would be alright. Also, clown loaches are peaceful and useful for eating snails. But if you only get one, it will most likely hide all day, then come out when the lights are off, so you should get a few of them as well (if you want them). They also get quite large though.
You can't really get any fish that need a well planted tank(such as rams), because, as you probably already know, silver dollars are very effective herbivours and will decimate plants easily. Mine sometimes even eats Java Fern. It is possible to subdue this munching of plants if you feed the silver dollars lots of geen stuff (peas, lettuce, ect.). Although some people belive that feeding fish terrestrial meats and plants can cause problems. |
