| java moss is a lot easier to grow, I think you need high light and co2 to grow most other carpet plants. |

although java moss grows easier it will not atach to the substrate very well and can grow to be more of a pest then a carpet plant and make the tank a lot more work. dwarf hair grass is a awsome plant and will do well in bright light with co2 but co2 is not needed, it will just take longer to grow. _________________ "I am a wildlife warrior, and I will fight, fight to the death for wildlife." - Steve Irwin |

After having kept Java moss I can vouch for what stickman14 is saying!
While you can tie down clumps of Java moss, eventually little strains will break free and start growing in another part of the tank (and normally gets caught up in the filter intake). This can become quite a mess after a while.
IMHO, go for the Dwarf Hair Grass! |

| first of all, javamoss will not look like hairgrass. if you want to use java moss as a carpet plant, think of a throw rug or a welcome mat. if you want ot use hairgrass, well now thats a real carpet!. |
