I was wondering if adding black water extract would help my eel so he would feel more secure and come out more often?

Not sure on your eel species you have. Depends on the eel species whether they pefer low pH on whether black water works. The best method of making the eel come out is to provide more hiding places. The more hiding places the more secure the fish feels and the more it likely to come out. Another option is use see through plastic homes they use for the black ghosts. Another option is to entice the fish with food or provide with peaceful tankmates the fish feel secure with. However if the eel species nocturnal behaviour is like a cockroach you have no hope in the eel coming out.

its the tire trak eel that I'm asking about and he has plety of hidding spots. I just want to see him some more as he has the most charcter I have ever seen in any fish. before I moved him from my 30 g to my 55g he was comming out as there was lots of plants for him to hid in. I'm sure when I have all the plants he will come out of his large cave of rocks and move around a lot. thanks for the advice.
