What's everyone's parameters of the water straight out of their local tap (or well)?
temperature: 9C
pH: 5.5
GH: < 20 ppm (as CaCO3)
KH: < 10 ppm (as CaCO3)
NH3/NH4: 0 ppm
NO2: 0 ppm
NO3: 0 ppm
CO2: N/A
PO4: N/A
Fe: N/A
Ca: N/A
Cu: N/A
pH = potential Hydrogen
GH = general hardness
KH = carbonate hardness
NH3/NH4 = ammonia
NO2 = nitrite
NO3 = nitrate
CO2 = carbon dioxide
PO4 = phosphate
Fe = iron
Ca = calcium
Cu = copper

Alright fine, I'll tell you. Don't twist my arm.
Location: St. Paul, MN
Temperature: very cold.
pH: 8
Ammonia: 2.0ppm
Hardness: very hard I've been told.
Other stuff I don't know. Too cheap to buy all the test kits.

Here are the results of everything I have test kits for. I have well water.
Location: Bell, Florida
pH 7.6
KH 3 degrees
GH 120 ppm
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Temperature 68-78F (20-26C) depending on the time of the year or current weather

Location: Melbourne, Australia
Temperature: Variable depending on outside temperature.
pH: 7.0 (API)
GH: 1.5 dGH (API)
KH: 0.5 dKH (API)
NH3/NH4: 0 ppm (API)
NO2: 0 ppm (API)
NO3: 0 ppm (API/Salifert)
CO2: N/A (no pH change noted if left to sit)
PO4: 0 ppm (Salifert)
Fe: N/A
Ca: ~30ppm (Salifert)
Mg: Probably close to 0ppm, since all the GH appears to be Ca.
Cu: N/A
pH = potential Hydrogen
GH = general hardness
KH = carbonate hardness
NH3/NH4 = ammonia
NO2 = nitrite
NO3 = nitrate
CO2 = carbon dioxide
PO4 = phosphate

What are some good test kets for testing each of these?
pH = potential Hydrogen
GH = general hardness
KH = carbonate hardness
NH3/NH4 = ammonia
NO2 = nitrite
NO3 = nitrate
CO2 = carbon dioxide
PO4 = phosphate
Fe = iron

I have very hard akaline water from the mountains. I've been a Boise, Idaho resident for 8 years .The water is a killer for neons but my rainbows are happy and colorful in it.I wish we had more Lfs here ,surprisingly though,we have more stores that specialize in marines. I'll show the specific parameters later. _________________

okay here it is
nitrates-mcl standard 10 ppm(ideal)
highest 5.9
hardness-mcl standard 250ppm
avg-104
Alkalinity-125ppm avg
calcium-33ppm avg
pH-7.1(okay not that alkaline,)ranges-6.1-8.3
Total dissolved solids-191ppm avg
-range 16-382
note these are results pertaining to the ada county area and not just to my water systems section _________________

Location: Okotoks, AB
pH: 8.3
GH: 17 ppm
KH: 18 ppm
Individual traces of PO4, NO3, NO2, NH4, Fe, Cu not measurable. I haven't measured calcium specifically, but due to GH, I'm certain it's quite high. _________________ Am I obsessed? Wait a minute... don't answer that! |

apparently I'm the only one with nitrates in the area guess it's all the farms
nitrates of 10 ppm+ cause blue baby syndrome apparantly ours though aren't higher than 5.9 _________________
