I rarely trust pH test kits, get a couple of them and avg. the results. If you have a skimmer try running a tube outside for the air inlet as sometimes the amount of co2 in our homes can cause a drop in pH, getting fresh air to the skimmer will help oxygenate and bring up the pH. I use a pH probe and check it with a couple of different pH test kits. It is possible your pH is that low but I suspect it really isn't.

Hmm, no system details in the profile.
You know we really ought to make that a requirement for questions... don't even know what size tank you have here!
I did notice on another thread you induced lemon juice concentrate; with a very acidic pH value of 2.4... just a thought.

Whats your alk reading?

Make sure it's low alk that is causing the pH problem before you start dosing buffer...if it's due to high CO2 levels then you could simply be overdosing on buffer and precipitating calcium out of your system which will lead to more problems.

would be cheaper just to buy an alkinity or KH test kit and start dosing with baking soda or sodium bicarbonate.
