| is it OK to keep the light on for 8 hours a day or can I leave it on for more I have a timer which turns it on and off for 8 hours I havant got any coral yet so would that be OK? I surpose it depends on when I do get my corals for how long I should leave it on. and I'm gonna buy a test kit tomorrow when should I test my tank every week or month? or will it tell me in the instructions? thanks again. |

It won't hurt to leave the light on for 8 hours. What are you testing for?

| well testing for every think I surpose just to make sure evrythinks good but I surpose I don't have to test everythink do I? |

The important things to test for are ammonia, nitrites and nitrates, this will tell you if the cycle is complete, once it is complete you will need to check calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, phosphates and continue to check for nitrates. You will need to measure salinity and temperature.
