Hi its quite hot were I am living at the moment, and as a consequence so is my fish tank, so I turned the heater off, but I've read its not the temp that kills its the change that kills, it can go form 23C in the morning to about 27C in the evening
I don't know what to do keep my heater on at about 26-27C so the temp is the same all the time or keep it off so they get a chance to cool down???
cheers james

Depending on what species you are keeping in your tank ATM, the temperature will be fine. As long as it changes slowly over the duration of the day, almost all hardy species will be fine with it. I will be best if your heater is on during the night to prevent too much fluctuation though.

Hi wozza,

What do you have in the tank? Most reefs are kept at 26 - 27 degrees.
You should set your thermometer at the desired temp and leave it. It will shut off when it acheives this temp and won't keep heating your tank. Unplugging it only makes your temp fluctuations worse.
