| I stocked my pond a bit last year with 2 koi, 3 golden orfes, 10-11 goldfish, and 3 rosy reds. I would like to finish my stock this year by adding 3 more koi, my common pleco(will survive winter, pond 40 inches deep), and 8-9 more goldfish. Is this too much? Too little? I do 25% water changes every 2 weeks, and have a tetra 2500 filter with built in UV. |

I am so jealous... 2500 gallons.... please please post pics!
I would lean toward less goldfish...both because I'm a fan of "less is more" plus given the adult size of the koi and the possibility that the goldfish or koi might spawn. But keep in mind, I don't have any direct experience with large ponds yet. _________________ Maura

Thanks for the input . In think I will wait a couple more years for them to spawn, if they don't I get some more. Is 4-5 koi too much? |

In theory no, that is not too much. Some people say 1000g per koi, personally and in my experience, that _________________ Years of fish keeping = Good advice |

Okay, so 2 koi is enough for my pond. Now that I think about it, my orfes will reach a foot+ and are very active. Thats enough. Thanks for the help. |

Yes, but 4-5 are not too many.
It's a pleasure helping. _________________ Years of fish keeping = Good advice |
