I love all the pictures. I've got to learn how to use the digital camera my son got for me (he moved back to Arizona before he gave me lesons). Maybe he will visit at Christmas and get me up to speed. _________________ Rose |

My vote went to Mogwai's picture. It's perfect.
With that said, there are many great entries in this week's challenge. 2la's is top quality, as always . I'm also impressed at LittleMousling and Alex's ability to consistently put out great images in every contest.
I was hoping Sahara22588 would enter this picture from her thread:
It would've definitely won my vote. _________________ Aquarium Gallery |

Yeah, I forgot to submit an entry. I logged on the other day and saw the voting was already going on. Well, maybe next time...

I voted for the Glass Cats. Its a nice picture, with little angle off "straight on." Plus, I like glass cats.
Noname would have got my vote if the glass was a bit cleaner. Its a really nice shot of the madtom though. 2la and Magnus had very nice shots, but I like depth of field. The nose of 2la's fish actually looks out of focus its so narrow. The shrimp was good, but I like glass cats better, and that swung the vote. |

Mine was a fortuitous shot, but if I had to do it over again, I'd still opt for the narrow depth-of-field. It all depends on the effect you're going for. In my case, I preferred creating a sense of depth by keeping at least the eyes in focus without regard to anything else. Keeping everything in focus, on the other hand, would 'flatten' the image and make it more two-dimensional. If I get the chance again, though, I'd probably stop down a bit to get the snout in focus, too, much like Magnus's shot. _________________

Voting is closed! With 19 votes (31%), Mogwai's striking portrait of her Pseudotropheus saulosi takes top honors! In second place is 2la's Espe's pencilfish, followed by LunarFlame's krib Scuba.
Congratulations, Mogwai!
Get ready for November's contest, and be sure to leave your ideas for themes in the suggestions box!
Regards,
2la _________________

Thank you guys, I'm honoured - and Mr Saulosi's head is so inflated with praise that he can barely fit back in his rock cave... |
