Batteries produce DC
Most plug in air pumps are AC.

If your pump is AC, it really isn't worth the cost of the parts given that battery air pumps are pretty cheap.

If you really want to go ahead, you will need to buy or make an inverter.

If your air pump is DC, then it should be easy.

Odds are that it's AC (alternating current). I would be willing to bet that if it's a normal plug on your pump it's AC. An example of a DC outlet is a cigarette lighter in a car. But, if you're still worried . . . you could check the product and see if it's labeled somewhere on it.

On the bottom of a hagen air pump it says ***V AC yada yada...

If your unit isn't labelled, assume its AC.

DC is typical of battery operated equipment or electronics like computers etc.
When you plug them into the wall they usually have a converter to go from AC to DC... HTH
