I just drilled a hole in the top of the bottle cap then pulled the tubing through it with pliers then sealed around it with crazy glue _________________ My gallery http://photobucket.com/albums/a179/kittyclover/ |

| yes but this is the most common mistake because they cap is made of polyethylene it hard to create a good seal which means this system is prone to leaks |

very true I couldn't get mine to work today cause I found a small leak coming from the lid. I had this stuff called goop household sealant that I used in the bathroom when I was renovating last year and just put it on the inside of the pop lid and on the outside of the lid. Its working like a charm and I have 1 bubble per second now _________________ My gallery http://photobucket.com/albums/a179/kittyclover/ |

mad about fish,
if you can get to a homedepot, a simple double sided nipple should work, I have been using this w/ my co2 bottles w/ no problems...
simply drill the bottle cap and use neopreen (sp?) washers on the inside of the cap to keep the seal tight... works like a charm... _________________ 65g Future Anemone Home |

Alternatively you could try and get a female coaxial cable connector.
Its a bit of work, but you drill out the plastic section in the middle, and then drill a hole in the bottle cap and screw the connector in place, sealing it all around with silicone sealant. When you're done with that put the airline through the connector and seal that with silicone sealant. Since you can tighten the connector onto the cap and the sealant sticks to the aluminium connector you don't have to worry about the polyethylene bottle lid not bonding to the silicone.
If you need any more explaining then just let me know.

all I did was drill a small hole into the cap and fit the line thru.
of course I made the hold really small.
to get the line thru the hole, I had to cut off the top half of the airline off and I pushed that half thru the hole. that way I had something to hold onto while I pulled it thru. it worked great for me and less stuff to buy. it is airtight and looks very clean. |
