| Is there anyone that has used cannister type external filters for a pond? Do they work very well on a 100 gallon pond? How can they compare to other external type filters? |

I'm using one; our pond is about 250 gallons. It's great, and I'd strongly recommend one. The good ones are easy to clean, easy to hook up, easy to hide, etc. _________________ -Molly

| I hate my Bioforce, very hard to open and close, can't find replacement sponges now. I let it go too long between cleanings and the UV light cage leaked, killing the UV. I wish I had room for an upflow waterfall filter. |

Thanks for all replies. Anonapersona-I did purchase the Bioforce 500 UV before I got your reply.Seems well made. The clamps do seem to be a nuisance. Haven't cleaned it yet. I purchased from AZponds.com. They do sell sponge replacements--(800) 722-8877. You could try Hozelock- (800)297-7461 to locate a distributor for you.

I'm using an Eheim 2260 on a 175 Gallon indoor aquarium. It should work good on a 100 gal pond (well, I don't see why it wouldn't ) |

| I'm not so sure it would be a good idea to put a tank cannister on a pond. The motor would not be protected from the outdoor elements; rain, moisture. Pond cannisters are powered by submersible pumps and you know they can handle water. |
